Downtown Sound: The Mighty Diamonds + Charley Organaire

The Mighty Diamonds (Donald “Tabby” Shaw, Fitzroy “Bunny” Simpson and Lloyd “Judge” Ferguson) formed in 1969 in the Trenchtown area of Kingston, Jamaica. They are the longest-running vocal trio in Jamaican musical history, entertaining and educating the world with their sweet harmonies and conscious lyrics – and producing more than 60 albums. Kingston born Charley Organaire is a Jamaican ska legend, during the 1960s he performed with every major big band on the island in addition to recording with Bob Marley,  Toots & the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff,  and Millie Small. In 2014 he released “Meets The Prizefighters” on Chicago’s Jump Up Records - Charley is once again entertaining the world with his signature harmonica shuffle and cabaret singing style.
